A strong commitment to sustainable development.

Every detail of the Domaine des Bories has been thought out to limit its impact on the environment, both in terms of construction and the life of the buildings and its inhabitants afterwards.

All this reflection should result in obtaining the European Ecolabel, for which an instruction is in progress, for all our holiday rentals in the Dordogne.

Bioclimatic houses

The houses are designed to make the best use of the site's natural assets, thus drastically limiting their energy requirements.

A veranda to the south or west provides most houses with an intermediate space with the outside, warm in winter and cool in summer.Vegetated roofs in most homes provide coolness in the summer. They also compensate for part of the CO2 emissions generated by the Domaine and its inhabitants and contribute to the soothing and natural atmosphere of the place. The Domaine des Bories is thus to date the largest green roofing site in France, built on sloping roofs!

Limitation of CO2 emissions and certified 100% renewable energy

Energy-efficient equipment

The cheapest and most renewable energy... is the energy we don't consume. All the equipment has therefore been carefully chosen to limit the energy consumption of the Domaine.Underfloor heating by a high efficiency air/water heat pump provides heating in winter and cooling in summer for houses with 2 or more bedrooms. Swimming pools and 1-bedroom houses are heated/cooled by an air-to-air heat pump. All household equipment has low electricity and water consumption: class A or A+. Similarly, all light bulbs are low consumption and water pressure reducers are fitted to all taps.

Water and waste recycling :
The Domaine is equipped with selective bins to separate paper, packaging and glass from conventional waste. Each set of 2 or 3 rentals also has a compost bin for recycling organic waste to fertilize the gardens.Rainwater from the roofs is absorbed by the green roof to ensure summer comfort or recovered for watering the garden.

To help reduce the CO2 emissions of the holidaymakers themselves, a taxi service with the surrounding stations can make it easier for them to travel by train, and bicycles are also available for hire on site.Information for holidaymakers: a detailed information guide raises the awareness of the Domaine's guests to encourage them to adopt the most economical behaviour possible.Electricity consumption certified 100% renewable. Finally, all of the Domain's electricity consumption is compensated for by the purchase of Green Access green certificates ensuring the development of renewable energy projects.

Special attention to the local environment

The construction of the Estate

All the stones used for the construction of the buildings were found on the land. In the past, these stones were used to build Bories, famous shepherds' houses. There are still some Bories left on the estate. An old stone house dating from 1937 has also been preserved, intended to house a future aviary. Most of the trees on the land have also been preserved, and new local shrubs have been planted to help protect the local biodiversity.

A role in the local economy
All the construction of the Estate was carried out by local companies. The establishment of the Domaine in Sorges also contributes to the development of the local economy. Finally, we are members of the Festival Committee, because "there is always something going on in Sorges" (truffle festivals, national dog show, hikes...), and members of the Association "Coeur du Périgord".The Domain is also regularly visited by elected representatives from various regions, sensitive to bioclimatic constructions.
